BMW M4 Convertible

BMW adds a convertible version to the M3/M4 range. 

BMW unveils at the 2014 New York autoshow the converible version of the BMW M4.

Under the trademark “power dome” bulge on the bonnet, the twinturbo 3 liter inline six delivers a 550 Nm of peak torque between 1850 and 5500 rpm. Power peaks at 431 hp between 5500 and 7300 rpm. Accleration from 0 to 100 km/h is claimed in 4.4 seconds with the optional twin clutch gearbox, and 4.6s with the standard 6 gear manual. Top speed is governed at 250 km/h. Normalized NEDC fuel consumtion is only 9.1 L/100km (8.7 L/100km with the M DCT gearbox), and CO2 emissions rated at 213g resp. 203 g/km. Total DIN weight has been reduced by 60kg in comparison with the E93 M3 Cabriolet, and is claimed at 1750kg.

The three part foldable roof can be opened in 20 seconds at up to 18 km/h. Boot capacity is 220L with the roof folded, and 370L when it is deployed. Exterior  dimensions are 4671mm in length, 1870mm in width (2014 with mirrors) and 1386mm in height.

The M4 Convertible si fitted with 18″ (255/40R18 and 275/40R18) wheels, and can be upgraded to 19″ as an option.

The M4 is the 5th generation of convertible Motorsport cars, following the 1988 E30 ( 215hp), 1994 E36 (286 then 321hp), 2001 E46 (343hp) and 2008 E93 (420hp). It is also the first one to adopt a turbocharged engine.
