Jaguar F-Type Coupé

Jaguar presents the coupe version of the F-Type.

Although Jaguar commercialized the F-Type on the market as a roadster, it was first presented as a coupe at the 2011 Frankfurt autoshow. The C-X16 concept – a hybrid a the time – looked very close to the final product. A year after the F-Type roadster, Jaguar brings the F-Type Coupe to the market and chose the 2013 Los Angeles autoshow as a venue. The soft top is substituted by a smooth and fluid roof line covering a very useful 407 litres of luggage capacity. A retractacle wing is integrated in the tail and deploys from 112 km/h to increase downforce by 120kg.

Entry level powertrains are identical to the roadster version with two supercharged 2995 cm3 V6 with respective outputs of 340hp/450Nm and 380hp/460Nm for the V6-S version. The F-Type R Coupé receives a more aggressively tuned 5.0L supercharged V8 with 550 hp and 680 Nm instead of 495 hp and 625 Nm on the  F-Type V8-S roadster. Torque is sent to the rear wheels through the torque converter Quickshift 8 gear automatic transmission. The F-Type S & R versions, coupe and roadster, can now be specified with a carbon ceramic system with 398mm and 380mm rotors, bringing 21kg in unsprung weight savings. The F-Type Coupe adopts stiffer spring rates, 4.3% front and 3.7% rear. Torsional rigidity is rated at 33’000 Nm/deg, the stiffest ever achieved by a Jaguar road car.

Jaguar claims 1577 kg for the F-Type Coupe V6, 1594 kg for the V6-S and 1650 kg for the V8 R.

As suggested by this official video, the coupe adopts the same “bold” exhaust system as the roadster version.
