McLaren 600 LT

The Sports Series receives the Longtail treatment.

The twin turbo 3.8 liter V8 of the Sports Series sees its torque increased to 620 Nm (+20 Nm in comparison with the base 570S), while power peaks at 600 hp (+30 hp). McLaren claims a dry weight of 1247 kg, amounting to a reduction of 96 kg (with the lightest options) compared to a 570S. During our test, we weighed the 570S at 1470 kg with fluids and a full tank, while McLaren claimed then a 1313 kg dry weight, since revised to 1356 kg according to current official documentation. We therefore struggle a bit to follow McLaren’s math. Contributing to the weight savings is a full carbon body.

The 600 LT is the fourth McLaren model to receive the Longtail suffix, after the illustrious F1 GTR, and the coupe and spyder versions of the 675. Length is extended by 74 mm, with an extended front splitter and rear wing. McLaren claims that 23% of parts are specific compared to a 570S. The 600 LT wears Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R track oriented tires.

The diminutive interior treatment includes buckets seats first seen on the P1. The ultra light seats developed for the McLaren Senna are available as an option.

UK pricing is set at £185, 500 (a 40’000£ hike over a 570S), inclusive of participation to a Pure McLaren Road Owner track day with instruction. Production of the 600 LT will “strictly limited”, but McLaren does not disclose what the quantity will be. Production is scheduled to start in October 2018 and to last for approximately 12 months.
