The Aston Martin DB11 goes topless. 

The DB11 Volante is the expected convertible variant of the DB11 coupe which spearheads a new era of growth at Aston Martin.  The Volante is however launched first with the new Mercedes-sourced twin turbo 4.0 litre V8, while the coupe was first brought to market with Aston Martin’s own 5.2 litre V12. The V8 has an output of 510 hp at 6000 rpm while torque peaks at 675 Nm on a broad rev range spanning from 2000 to 5000 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8 ratios automatic gearbox, and the limited slip differential integrates a torque vectoring function. Aston Martin claims a 4.1s time for the 0-100 km/h acceleration, and 0-160 km/h in 8.8s. Top speed is 300 km/h.

Aston Martin is very proud of the new soft top design of the DB11 Vantage. It is extremely compact once folded and allowed designer to draw a fluid third volume while increasing boot volume by a useful 20% compared to the DB9. The opening only takes 14 seconds and can be performed up to a speed of 50 km/h. The soft top fabric integrates 8 layers of insulating material. The rear seats offer ISOFIX attachments, a first on an Aston Martin Volante.

The cabriolet has a length of 4750 mm and 1950 mm in width, and its weight is claimed at 1870 kg DIN. The body structure is 26 kg lighter and 5% stiffer than the DB9 Volante. Aston Martin also proposes for the first time a new range of interior finishing options, including the availability of new wood or carbon fibre veneer panels on the seat backs. The fabric hood is available in a choice of bordeaux red, black silver or grey silver.

The Aston Martin DB11 Volante can be ordered now with first deliveries being scheduled for spring 2018. European pricing starts from €199,000.
