Ferrari unveils the new 488 Spider.
Ferrari will present to the public and the press at the September 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show the new 488 Spider. Following in the foot steps of the 488 GTB coupe, the Spider adopts a turbocharged engine. Its 3902 cm3 twin turbo V8 puts out 760 Nm of torque from 3000 rpm and 670 hp at 8000 rpm, achieving a specific power output of 172 hp per liter if displacement. Transmission of this deluge of torque is entrusted to a 7 ratio twin clutch gearbox. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is claimed at 3 seconds and 200 km/h is reached in 8,7 seconds. Top speed is more than 325 km/h.
The length of the Ferrari 488 Spider is 4568 mm on a 2650 mm wheelbase, with 1952 mm in width and 1211 mm in height. Weight is 1525 kg, or 50kg more than the coupe. The rigid roof folds over the engine compartment in 14 seconds only. The 488 Spider is launched in a new livery called Blu Corsa.
