Mercedes complements the CLA range with an elegant Shooting Brake version. 

Mercedes has worked hard to develop its portfolio to appeal to a younger demographics. After the B-class monospace, the crucial A-class hatchback, the CLA sedan coupe for north american and asian markets and the GLA crossover, here comes a classy station wagon which ideally complements the range. The design ambitions to combine the distinctive aesthetics of a 4 door coupe with the practicality of a wagon. The result is a success: the Shooting Brake gives to the CLA the visual balance that the sedan version, at least to some, appears to lack. Available in petrol and diesel versions, front wheel drive or all wheel drive 4Matic, and with a sporty AMG version to top the range, the Shooting brake (dimensions 4630/1777/1435 mm) should have a broad appeal.

Inside, crucial improvements have been made to head room for rear passengers. Four much necessary centimeters were added thanks to a revised roof line, bringing the total to a more acceptable 94.7cm. Cargo space is rated from 495 to 1354 liters with the rear seats folded. An intermediate “cargo” position with more upright seat backs offers a useful 595 liters. The range of engine configurations offered at launch includes two turbodiesels (CLA 200 CDI 300 Nm / 136hp and CLA 220 CDI 350 Nm / 177 hp). On the petrol side, the range includes the CLA 180 (200 Nm / 122hp), the CLA 200 (250 Nm / 156hp) and the CLA 250 (350 Nm /211hp). This last version is also available with a 4Matic transmission. CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC and CLA 220 CDI 4MATIC versions will follow in September 2015.

An OrangeArt limited edition is proposed at the launch of the CLA Shooting Brake, with … orange color accents, the AMG Line and Night packages, AMG 18 inch rims and a well equiped interior.

CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake: the AMG touch

The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake version receives the full AMG treatment seen on the A-Class, with the rather demonstrative 450 Nm / 360hp turbocharged two liter engine. It is mated to the 7 ratio AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT gearbox and the the variable 4MATIC which regulates torque distribution between 100% on front wheels and 50:50.

The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake is also available with the OrangeArt livery. It will be presented for the first time at the 2015 Geneva auto show and the market launch will also take place in March 2015.
