The Ferrari FF and its new GTC4 Lusso successor have an average buyer age 10 years younger than that of the 612 Scaglietti that went before them. Four out of 10 FF/GTC4 buyers are new to the brand, and FF/GTC4 buyers cover 50% more mileage than the 612 owners before them.

Intéressant, la future 488 "Spéciale" intégrerait-elle un KERS ?

The replacement for the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, due to make its global debut at the Geneva show next year, will have a naturally aspirated V12 engine. Earlier suggestions that the F12’s successor would receive hybrid tech have now lost momentum.

Manual Ferraris are officially dead

There'll never be another manual Ferrari, even though rival Porsche is reintroducing manual transmissions on high-end 911s. Sources say the last Ferrari with the option of a manual ’box was the first-gen California, but it’s thought only three to five examples left the factory. “There’s just no demand,” said a spokesman.

Ferrari announces new naming policy
by Sniff Petrol

Just days after announcing its new 789 horsepower 812 Superfast, Ferrari has revealed plans to rebadge all of its cars with a random number and then a statement of the bleeding obvious.

First to be renamed is the GTC4 Lusso which becomes the 536 Depreciatione, followed by the California which is re-labelled the 273 MiamiDentiste.

The 488 GTB will become the 679 AgeingDivorcee whilst its convertible sister will become the 684 Doing67InTheInsideLane.

The new naming policy will even extend to Ferrari’s forthcoming 2017 F1 car which is tipped to be called the 982 DisappointingThirdWahWahWahWhyWon’tEVeryoneElseLetUsWin ?

Source Autocar.

Ferrari boss Sergio Marchionne has been openly critical of the company’s entry-level California coupe-convertible at a Geneva press conference, suggesting that the model "has a hard time seeing itself as a full-blown Ferrari" and that it needs to be reconsidered. "This is the biggest topic of conversation at Ferrari right now," Marchionne added.

The California was originally conceived as a Maserati project from the era when Ferrari directly owned that company. However, the car’s complexity meant that it was not viable at a Maserati price, which had to sit below the Ferrari range.

Development of the car was well advanced, however, and, as predicted by Autocar, it instead emerged bearing a prancing horse badge and carrying a higher price but with capabilities that fell somewhat short of Ferrari’s high standards.

The revised California T addressed some of the issues and the upgraded car earned more critical praise than the original version. However, while not suggesting that the model be dropped, Marchionne appears to be suggesting that a major reappraisal of the California's role and character are under way.
